Last week we celebrated World Space Week with plenty of rocket, astronaut and alien small world play. The creation of the all things extra-terrestrial occurred with the making of playdough spheres and paper plate planets along with out of this world junk modelling!! Foil painting was a popular crafting activity and space themed games for group play, allowing incorporation of turn taking skills and memory and recall strategies.
Now we are all settled into more of a daily routine this term, children are enjoying being chosen as the leader for the day and looking forwards to taking their turn wearing the leader badge. Leader of the day has responsibilities which include taking round the visual timetable signs, being a line leader and choosing a story for the staff to read. Every child has the opportunity to experience this role and it encourages increased self-confidence, contributing positively and collaborating with their peers.
